WorkshopsOverview of TEAM Workshops TEAM offers a series of 5 workshops conducted over the course of two years. These consist of two (2) individual-level self-studies, two (2) diocesan-level workshops and one (1) deanery-level workshop. Each diocese selects its own participants to send to the workshops. Participants generally include at least one delegate from each parish, as well as the regional deans and other diocesan officials.
Each module builds upon the work of the previous module. Parish delegates spend the time between modules in their parishes and deaneries conducting trainings, building small groups, and putting their study into practice. At the conclusion of the second diocesan-level workshop, TEAM tracks the work of the delegates and their small groups. This information is then captured and published in a newsletter that shares their accomplishments and the emerging best practices. As you would expect, TEAM's curriculum focuses heavily on HIV/AIDS epidemiology and prevention. However, in order to empower those who now know about AIDS to powerfully teach about AIDS, TEAM adds a combined study of strategic teaching approaches with leadership training to all our AIDS education. In addition to this, the two diocesan-level workshops contain intensive study of small group facilitation and conflict resolution. The individual self-study material engages the delegates in further community assessment and personal discipleship. TEAM’s overarching goal is to train trainers who can do effective and behavior changing HIV/AIDS education for people of all ages, genders and socio-economic backgrounds. However, the curriculum is also designed to equip delegates with leadership and communication skills that result in greater effectiveness in personal, professional and community pursuits, thereby expanding the impact of this education for the delegate and for the society.
